Funeral cremations
You may choose the Crematorium you prefer, usually Narberth, Aberystwyth, Llanelli, Swansea , or further afield if you so wish. A service is usually held at the Crematorium where final goodbyes are said. The cremated remains are usually available to collect the next day, and you can then decide on their disposal e.g burial or scatter somewhere special to the deceased. Tom Lewis can arrange their disposal whatever method you decide. Some prefer not to have a service at the Crematorium, and the coffin is taken to the Crematorium by the Funeral Director without any one else being present. This is called ‘Direct Cremation’.
What to expect from a cremation
The cremation will take place at a crematorium of your choice, where a service will be held. This can include readings, eulogies and music. The coffin is in full view of the congregation during the service. If you wish a curtain is drawn when the committal takes place so that the coffin is out of sight when the family leave the Crematorium.

Choosing a burial
There are a number of factors to consider when it comes to choosing a burial, including your religious beliefs and where your other family members are buried. Tom Lewis Funeral Directors can help you make the right decision for you and your loved one.
Why choose a burial?
Many people choose a burial due to religious reasons, and the fact that it gives family a physical site where they can visit and remember their loved one. Typically held at a church or cemetery, the burial will usually be held after the funeral service where the coffin will be taken to the grave. Words of commitment may be said as the coffin is lowered, before floral tributes are laid around the grave.

Woodland burials
Woodland burials are also known as green or eco friendly burials, and offer a more sustainable way to remember your loved one. As this type of funeral takes a more natural approach, simple biodegradable coffins or caskets may be used, and trees are usually planted in place of headstones. There are a number of natural burial sites across Wales, which offer serene, beautiful settings where you can sit and remember.
Burial costs
The cost of a burial can vary due to the number of different factors, for example if you need to buy a burial plot, the type of coffin and other services you choose. Whatever you decide, we will help you to remember your loved ones in the right way,
Please contact Tom Lewis, Funeral Directors for a breakdown of the costs.
